I know many of you are heading to South Korea, be it Seoul, Busan or Jeju Island! Well, I am sharing with you my itinerary for one full day at Jeju Island..which I believe you might be interesting for some of you..
We hired a cab driver to take us around because that is cheaper than taking a cab from place to place, or taking the bus because that is extremely time consuming!
First stop was the Cheonjiyeon Waterfall which was lovely..
Do be careful of the rocks when you try to get a closer look and picture of yourself.. I wore slippers, so that was pretty difficult!
Next to it is the columnar Basalts – Jusangjeolli which tells you the story of the waterfall and some history behind it
Enjoying an ice cream cone while on the bridge..which has a river below me that leads to the sea
The first place we went to was the Sunset Peak, a very famous natural landmark on Jeju Island..The thing is…BE PREPARED for RAIN! Umbrella’s don’t really work….. so buy a raincoat.. and wear sports shoes..
It’s a walk up a long flight of staircases of various sizes to reach the top! An estimate of 30 minutes to go up and 30 minutes down..
When you reach the top, be astounded by the sight of Jeju Island! Breathtaking..
On the way down, you can take the picturesque route and check out the seaside
Then, it was time to head to the folk village to see how traditional Jeju villages were like..
Get a tour guide to take you around..you will understand how the people there lived.. Most of the houses in this folk village were still occupied.. and I realized that men were the kings in these vilages! Ggrrr..
The top view of the whole village.. a picture with our tour guide who was gracious to explain to use the history of the village although I couldn’t understand much as she spoke in Chinese!
A picture with our cab driver who took us around and tried his best to communicate to us in mandarin..Once again, I was lost because I couldn’t speak mandarin..
Last but not least, I headed to the biggest temple in Jeju ! Due to the rain, I couldn’t explore much of the architecture, but it was very majestic! I also found out that Koreans offer rice as a sign of respect rather than incense sticks… learn something new everyday!
If you are a person who loves nature, Jeju Island is definitely a place for you. We didn’t get to check out the caves but I heard it was very pretty too but cold. A word of advise is to bring sports shoes with you and wear long pants especially when it’s close to winter because the rain and the wind makes it difficult to hike or climb!
