As I have yet to update on my month long happenings(too much has been going on in my life in just two short months), I thought I would like to write a post on what I learn from one of my stays at the hospital recently.

My life had a complete change recently when I received news of an illness which I will disclose soon.. As I am writing this, I am well on the road to recovery but in two short months, my life took a huge turn which left me staying at the hospital for a couple of days.

In “my time” at the hospital, I’ve come to realize that one of the most OVERLOOKED professions in the world is to be a NURSE! It’s such a selfless profession literally because these nurses are the ones that care for the patients from pre to post operation, not only making sure their comfortable and not in pain, but to help them pass motion! I couldn’t believe my eyes when they helped me with so many things which I couldn’t do when I was at the hospital, and not just me, but other patients!

While we go on chasing money, and I would like to emphasize on the word “tirelessly” for some being ruthless about earning money, nurses are selflessly taking care of people, and they definitely don’t earn as much as they should! I guess the reason why I am writing this is also to create awareness that while you are chasing for that gold at the end of the rainbow, please think of the following:

1. Don’t be selfish

This means, don’t put your needs above others jeopardizing people’s livelihoods. If you want to engage in office politics or step on someone’s hardwork just to rise up the ladder, I for one will not respect you, but it wouldn’t look good on you either.. I marvel at nurses who do their jobs well, because they really put their patients needs first!

2. Don’t be greedy

Greed has no bounds. There are so many successful companies or businessmen out there who have earn alot of money, but the best part is.. they decide they won’t pay their suppliers or vendors and try to cut their invoices down when it was pre-agreed upon. I know this happens often not just in the construction industry but even in the advertising line… What some of these “greedy” people don’t understand is that you might actually be destroying lives by doing that because you not paying them might result in a cut in jobs!

3. Service oriented

If you are in the service industry, for goodness sake, TAKE PRIDE IN YOUR WORK! I know you are getting paid a fixed income if you smile or not, but don’t you respect yourself and your job enough to give people good service? Not once when I was at the hospital that the nurses who tended to me came in with a grumpy face, except for one.

There’s so much more to what I want to say, but this post is to THANK the nurses who tirelessly work round the clock all over the world giving smiles to people when they feel like crap, and helping them from pain control to showering.

Some of the nurses at Ward 5B in Gleneagles Hospital, the best ward in the whole hospital(check in to that one and not others) because their nurses are polite, courteous and efficient! You guys made my stay a pleasant one and keep up the good work!

To the rest of you reading this, never forget to Thank the nurses who have helped you...

Love,
