While having a conversation with Ben the other day in the car, me being the idealistic, naive one went on to say “Money isn’t everything you know” while consoling him over a deal that didn’t come through. At that point when I said that, I truly meant it, when he stopped me short,

“You love traveling so much and that makes you happy, but don’t you need money to travel?”

Once again, I was dumbfounded as to how to reply that. It’s true I do love traveling and it does make me very happy while I am in a new place, learning a new culture but I would need money for that, and I would definitely not be happy not earning money and just traveling all my savings would I?

Then, I thought back to the things I love doing like singing, dancing, reading and it all requires some sort of monetary investment to do so… However, we as human beings need to find a balance between earning that money and spending it…

One main human flaw is “greed” as we always feel that however much we earn is NOT ENOUGH!

It’s true, in this day and age, when inflation is crazy, it’s not enough there always need to be a..

Balance

Balancing the time spent to earn money, and spending it. If we are a money-making machine, but have no means to spend it, or don’t want to, will we ultimately bring all the money we have earn into the grave with us? Think through that before thinking 10 x before buying anything and realizing it’s gone when you want it

Awareness

That there will always be others richer than us, so stop being greedy! Money is always there for us to earn,  and spend, but time with our loved ones or doing something is not always there, because time stops for no one

Generosity

To balance the greediness in humans, there needs to be some of us that is generous, to care and give.. again, we go back to the main point, if you hoard all the money, will you be able to bring it to the grave with you? I know people who are selfish even to their own family… that’s sad as they value money more than their blood.

So, I go back to the question at the top? “Does Money make me happy?”

Not really because love(which makes our heart go aaww) does not need money, but I will not deny it gives me material happiness or it’s a means to an end, the end being things I like to do. I will always go on the fact that I will earn more than enough, but a portion of it will always go back to charity 🙂

Time to ask yourselves this question..if you realize money overpowers your life which I see in some people, maybe it’s time to take a breather to truly reflect on what is it that makes you happy? Having that amount of money, and not spending it OR simply earning it to be labelled rich…???

There are many reasons money may or may not make you happy, but don’t let it overpower your life and do spend on your loved ones, yourself, and charity if you have some extra..
