Many emails and messages were sent to me asking whether I tried any alternative treatments, and truth be told, Yes, I have and AM on it at the moment for recovery and maintenance of health purposes. While I was writing my first three posts, I knew that my final post in regards to my journey will be highlighting the alternative routes I have taken for everyone out there who cares about their health.
Honestly, if I needed to go for chemotherapy, I would have opted for alternative healing instead because I felt at that point of time my body was already weak, and probably won’t survive chemotherapy. Thank GOD I was lucky for early detection which meant I only had to go through surgery and the colostomy bag(unexpected complication which you can read HERE if you haven’t).
During the colostomy period, the amount of people asking me to try this and that amounted to the hundreds, from MLM stuff to pills and many more. Of course, if you were kiasu like me, you would take almost everything until I realize I couldn’t because my body reacted badly to some of the pills I took and anti-cancer clothing I wore. And THAT’s when I realize how to discern what’s good and bad for my body, I basically stuck to what’s good for me only.. and I would like to share it with you:
1. Tom Wu’s Diet
If you know anyone who has cancer or even a health person, I highly recommend this juice not just to improve your health but maintain it. This juice was the brainchild of Dr.Tom Wu who had stage 4 lung cancer, and recovered through a diet he himself invented made of raw fruits, vegetables, and seeds. I have never met him in person but I would love too because his juice really helped not just me but my family.
For colon cancer patients, please be aware that the juice is quite high in fibre so it might be difficult to consume right after surgery, but you can take it in lower doses first, and increase the amount once your bowels gets used to it. For those who have cancer, I suggest you pay a visit if possible to Dr.Tom Wu himself and he actually tells you what to eat on a daily basis along with this juice to recover from cancer which I’ve heard many did. For me, I honestly feel more energetic after drinking it and it’s a source of fibre for my body which I needs loads of due to the nature of my surgery.
Anyway, here’s the ingredients:
Purple cabbage(2-3 leaves) OR Spinach(one cup) OR asparagus(5 to 8 sticks) OR alfalfa sprouts(half cup), one stalk of coriander, one piece of old ginger, one table spoon of tumeric powder, one beetroot without skin
One carrot, two kiwi fruits, two tomatoes
One table spoon of flax seed
One table spoon of raw pumpkin seeds, one table spoon of black sesame seeds
Three table spoon of goji berries soak in hot water for 30 seconds and press lightly to rinse off sand or dust
A few grapes with seed to make it taste better
This is the machine we use to juice which we got directly from Mr. Albert who’s a proponent of the diet, he sells this special blender that is able to blend everyhing but if you have vitamix, it works too
I don’t read Chinese, but you can put everything in and press the green button, and voila, it’s done in 2 minutes. Woot woot!!!
This is how it looks without water.. remember to put in 1 litre of water after you have inserted all the stuff inside
My loving mom who makes it for me everyday and for the family too!! Thank you SOOOOO much!!! I love you mumsy! <3
This is how it looks! It doesn’t taste awesome but hey, it is full of antioxidants and keeps you healthy.. that’s most important right?
Btw, for those who have cancer, please drink 7 cups a day, and for normal people, 4 cups will suffice.
2. Young Living Essential Oils
I swear by these oils as I use it twice a day. Peppermint in a circular motion round my navel to ease any stomach discomfort as my body is still adjusting to the new bowels system. Meleluca for any acne problems. Lemon which I put under the tongue for health maintenance. Sacred Frankinscence as well for health maintenance and lavender to aid in calming and sleeping.
You can also rub stress away on your temples when you have stress 🙂
Do read up more about it online, but they started having a HQ in Malaysia already which is good!!!
3. Exercise
I cannot stress how important this is because it not only oxygenates your organs(cancer cells cannot thrive in oxygenated environments), you feel better once you have exercise due to the endorphins! My dad and dog who runs with me 4 times a week!!! My dad always tells me “Tenji(my dog) is going to save my life” because she motivates me to bring her running every alternate day.
Before the Big-C, I am always too lazy to exercise but now, it’s a completely different case… No matter how tired I am, I still make time to exercise.
4. Meditation
This is a MUST for me on a daily basis. If it wasn’t for meditation, I believe that I wouldn’t have taken the news of my Big-C that well and it definitely aided in my recovery. I usually meditate every morning before I head out to make sure I have a smooth day and if there are any hiccups, I know I will be able to handle it.
How to meditate?
For me, I usually pray first, and ask for protection during my meditation, followed by clearing of negative energy from my body. After that, I will just let my mind wander to a peaceful state and that’s the sea for me. Your mind will take you to a different place and you will basically drift off after, finding solutions to questions you may have for example, and I end my meditation with a little bit of visualizing.
These are just the alternative healing methods that I use which I believe many of you are already practicing such as exercise, BUT if you asked me whether my lifestyle has changed? Yes, it definitely has not just in my diet(I eat alot more vegetables and fruits now), but I am more conscious about stress. I try to reduce it or take myself away from the situation that stresses me out.
Please feel free to email or comment if you have any questions on the above ok?
Hope this helps all of you!!!
Stay healthy,
Mei Sze
Hi Mei Sze. We had the same experience. I was diagnose with nose cancer at the age of 24 on January 2014. Been through 33 x of radiotherapy and 4 x chemotherapy. We were both very young to be diagnose with cancer. I read the newspaper today only to realise we are among the 2% of female who are in their 20s to be diagnose with cancer. Isn’t it a wow, we r the 2 out of the 100 females? However the past is the past, important is how we going to continue our life in a more healthier and balance way which I’m still working on it. I admire your optimism and passion in your live! What is the motivator to push you to go beyond? I feel tired sometime and loss the sense of direction as I don’t know what should I do now. Would you like to share with us your urge to be successful and to live the life beautiful every single day?
Hi Venessa,
I am sorry to hear that you were diagnosed last year as well. In terms of motivation to go beyond, I basically saw it as a challenge in my life that I need to get past and most importantly, live life like normal now. It’s difficult to forget what we’ve been through because there’s always the fear that it may come back BUT don’t let it eat you up. Like I said, don’t fear it because the more we do, the more cancer will rear it’s ugly head again.. Just live life like you never had it.. 🙂
Positive thinking, eat what makes u comfortable.believe in yourself.exercise moderate. Tired u can rest a,day .your health u know best.i took everything on second year moderately.first year only, fresh veg, fruits, some meat . no pill or health food unlesss is proven.happy mind, live as nothing happen before..i am a 7 years member.living as good as new.best regard to u.
Thank you ST. Your advise is well appreciated:) I believe happiness is truly the key and acceptance!!
Thanks for sharing your experience. I too was diagnosed young (34) with colon cancer, had surgery and chemotherapy. That was 2009…6 years ago. I survived. Having a positive mindset, support of family and friends, good doctors are the vital ingredients to beating cancer. I shall try the drink soon.
Hi Sunny,
I am glad you fought it and won!!! Yes good doctors are really important.. Please try the drink to maintain your health!

Thanks for sharing because I went through the same colon experience
Hi Lincoln,
You did? You had cancer?
This was a lovely article and really helpful, thank you! I’ve shared this with someone I love who’s going through her own Big-C. I hope she takes some of it on and it helps her 🙂
Hi brenda,
Thank you for reading. I do hope it helps her too:)
Hye Michelle, May I ask is there any of side effect if normal ppl drink?
Hi Mike,
Nope, my parents take it and they actually see the positive effects of it on themselves.
Do try it;)
Hello babe, can I blend the drinks one shot and keep so I can have it 7 cups a day?
Hi Michelle,
Yup, you can do that. 1 blend is sufficient for 7 cups. But if you are healthy, just drink 4 cups is enough:)
