When someone is stricken with the Big-C, many people will start having negative thoughts, and emotions leading to a weaker physical state as well. And, that’s exactly what a Big-C patient shouldn’t do, wallow in self-pity, or feel afraid but to face it with confidence. Basically, staring at it in the face, and say ‘Bring it On’, I am going to overcome this and come out the other side stronger, and that’s what I practiced from the start. I believe many cancer patients like myself faced not only the emotional, and mental anguish BUT the financial bit too because cancer treatment and surgery is very expensive!!!! If you read, you guys would know what I went through HERE in terms of insurance, but I’ve never been happier that I finally got my claims!!! Hence, I always tell my peers and people around me that protecting yourself financially is important because you just never know…
Always remember that’s there’s a silver lining in everything, even when I had financial difficulties alongside the mental and emotional challenges while battling the Big-C, I learnt so much from it!
Recently, while I was emceeing the launch of AXA’s cancer care protection plan, I would have to say I’m impressed and completely sold on their recent plan, not because of the financial protection(which is very affordable btw), but because of the emotional and mental support it offers.
For example, their emotional support comes when there’s a call center you can contact to speak to get a second opinion from a panel of doctors. They also have a concierge service to support you and help you to arrange for psychological consultation, dietician, hair and wig care services, transport arrangement and more. I have not seen an insurance company actually offer these additional services before!
