Have you ever been on a holiday before and everything just doesn’t seem to be going right? You arrive back home and feel even more tired than before you left…..What if it’s the flipside meaning if everything went well with NO hiccups at all…
Personally, I have never been on a perfect trip before but the past weekend being in Koh Samui basically gave me a taste of what a perfect holiday is… Do allow me to share it with you…
Now, before leaving for Koh Samui, especially the days leading to it, I honestly felt ALOT of anxiety because this exact time last year, we had to cancel a trip with my bestie and her bf to Koh Samui because I had the Big-C and was basically in hospital. I know, I know, I think too much, but can you really fault me?!?!
So, when I was on the plane, I actually breathe a huge sigh of relief…. Upon arriving at Koh samui, we were greeted with the friendliest driver from Hansar Samui, the hotel we were staying in.
From the start of our arrival to check-in at the reception, everything was perfect because the staff were smiley and service was just tip-top. Hence, they definitely deserve all the awards they received such as World Luxury hotel awards!!! Thank you to Miss Por, Miss Mon & Miss Pat from the reception for assisting Ben with his proposal. It was beautiful <3
Worries already lifted away with a welcome drink
I love how each room has a balcony and looks out to the beach!
The toilet area is well equipped withe everything you need, so don’t worry about forgetting anything!
Manicured lawns and you immediately feel away from home
Yup, don’t you just love beach fronting resorts?
Every morning, I basically woke up to this view
You must grab a drink by the pool bar because the food at this resort is actually WAY better than the restaurants next to the resort, no joke!
The pool is very nice!!! There are seats in it where you can enjoy the Jacuzzi too, Ben and I basically spent a whole day frolicking on the beach and the pool
Another thing that made the resort complete for me was the LuxSA spa which won the luxury spa awards too! The masseuse were very skilled making you fall asleep during the massage
Before I continue further, I am NOT paid by any of these places to advertise for them, I am just detailing the reasons why I found my trip so perfect!!
Tip 1: Choose a NICE place to live in. Hansar wasn’t too pricey if you are talking about luxury prices but the cherry on top of the cake for me was the service given by the entire team there. From the start till we check out, everyone was so helpful and they even checked with Ben on how the proposal went. If you don’t want to blow your budget on accommodation, at least choose a place which is comfy because you are going to a beach getaway afterall.
Next to Hansar, there are many restaurants fronting the beach. The ambiance is nice BUT the food literally tastes subpar. The Thai food we ordered tastes nothing like the Thai food we eat in Malaysia or Bangkok, it felt like they didn’t know how to cook Thai food. I suggest you order western food instead.
The other option if you are going for the weekend would be to visit the Fisherman’s market which happens every Friday. There’s loads of food there where you can snack on as well like this handmade ice-cream!
Tip 2: Stay at an easily accessible accommodation BUT not too busy. For me, Bophut beach was pretty ideal because it has the water, AND also, you are next to a whole row of restaurants, bars and the Fisherman village. It’s not like Chaweng where you feel like you are in the middle of a very busy area like Chak Tuk Chak market.
Something magical happen to Ben and I at this temple. We met a very famous monk who was giving blessings to people and he called us out from the crowd to receive it!!!!! He also told us we would have two children… can you believe that?
Please note that you would have to wear long pants and shirts with sleeves to enter these places out of respect for the monks.
The other temple we visited was a temple on top of the lake
Our driver took us to this picturesque location called “Grandfather & Grandmother””
This place has rock formations amidst a beautiful backdrop, blue seas and clear skies
When you are on top of these rocks, you feel like you are one with the sky because everything in front of you is just blue…. I love it!
Funny that the grandfather rock sticks out and the grandmother rock is a hole… hhhhmmmmmmmm….
Tip 3: Trust the locals and travel at a leisurely pace. I always believe in living like a local and trusting them. For us, Lek knew what we wanted and took us to “touristy”places that we would like. In order to have an enjoyable and well rested trip, one key point is to travel at a leisurely pace, you are not in the office anymore!!!!
OMG, this place has got to be a slice of heaven on earth. Please google this spa and possibly save up to come here and book in advance. This spa is set in the heart of a forest and makes you feel like you a part of it once you enter. You are to spend a minimum of 4 hours here, nothing less because you will have 1.5 hours of scrub, relaxing in two different herbal steams set in caves, and 3 cold dipping pools. After that, its 2.5 hours of treatment in a tiki hut on top of the hill!!!
Tip 4: Treat yourself a little. Yeap, the thing is we tend to stinge when we travel but do remember you are on a holiday, and sometimes, you just need to pamper yourself because you have worked so hard already to earn this trip… Live life to the fullest right?
I just had to show you these two pictures because even when you are about to leave, you still feel like you are in a resort at Koh Samui’s airport! The waiting area makes you feel like you are waiting in a beach lounge and they even give free refreshments!! Cute right?
From KL, please fly directly to Koh Samui airport and not through Surat Thani because that’s an extra half day of travelling.
Basically, I found the right formula to a perfect beach getaway and will be using this from now on…. time to search for my next location unless you guys would like to suggest?
