Many of you ask me, “ What do you usually eat now?”

My answer to that is that my current diet consists of vegetarian and organic food and if I actually eat rice, it has to be brown or multigrain rice. Due to the fact that I have a shortened rectum(almost all gone), I cannot simply eat anything as the reaction to my stomach is pretty severe making me have diarrhea instantly.

People have questioned me on what exactly makes me have that negative reaction, and the thing is I don’t know, it could be anything!!! So, I have started experimenting only when I am travelling(and that must be a clean restaurant) or when I am in Malaysia, I usually eat the same types of food.

Now, talking about vegetarian food, I have been trained since I was a kid to eat only white meat, and a whole lot of vegetables… Boy, was I pleasantly surprised when so many vegetarian restaurants popped up recently. One of my favourites would have to be Simple Life because it is conveniently found at major malls I go too, and they have a huge variety on their menu 🙂

What I really like most is the statement that they have no MSG, no preservatives, no Transfat and no Colouring, making your meal truly organic, healthy and vegetarian!

For those who think vegetarian food is bland, think again because the ones I’ve tried so far never failed me, and they tastes like your normal dishes like at Simple Life as well.

As Mother’s & Father’s Day is coming, why not veer of the traditional route and bring them to eat a healthy and delicious meal? I did you guys a favor to pick out my top 5 choices for your parents from Simple Life.

Fresh Mixed Fruit Tea

For your drinks, you should definitely order the Mixed Fruit Tea , it’s not sweet and taste very refreshing! A good palate cleanse!

Now, onto the Top 5 from the lowest to the highest spot:

Seaweed Roll

5. Seaweed roll made out of seaweed(d-uh), mayo, egg skin, carrots, alfalfa sporuts and lettuce! This is very crunchy and it actually tastes like sushi… trust me! Do refute if you think other wise

Mixed Fruit Rojak

4. Another appetizer would be the Mixed Fruit Rojak which has Japanese Cucumber, Turnip, Pinepaple, Green Apple, Green Mango, Tomato, Guava, Beancurd puff, Shredded papaya, Crushed Peanut, Sesame & a Homemade Rojak sauce which taste exactly like the real thing! I already like rojak in general, and if I have a healthier version of it since I can’t eat prawn paste anymore.. why not?

Kong Poh Lions Mane Mushroom

3. Kung Po Lion Mane Mushroom dish where the chicken is replaced with mushroom(which tastes exactly like chicken, no kidding!) ! It’s a set meal with acar(super yummy), and the homemade kung po sauce is like the real thing! I bet you that many of you can’t even finish this set meal when it’s placed in front of you because it’s so filling!

Brown Rice Nasi Lemak

2. Virgin Coconut oil Nasi Lemak. As nasi lemak is made from coconut oil, the multigrain rice from this dish is soaked in virgin coconut oil which is good for your digestive system instead of coconut oil to retain the fragrant smell of nasi lemak. Ikan bilis is replaced with crispy mushroom, and the it’s pumpkin rendang. It sounds very healthy, and yes it is BUT it tastes good too!!

Lei Cha

1. Last but not least is lei cha! A mixture of vegies with multigrain rice and green tea poured over it!I love this dish alot because of the green tea taste, and the vegies mixed with the rice gives makes it crunchy and you always feel satisfied with each mouthful!

When I met the owner, he told me his wife was trying new recipes at home, and that really touched my heart because it means that his wife prepare, ideates everything from home for all the restaurants, making homemade really homemade!

Bon appetit with your parents <3

Love,
