Finally, I get to update the final two days of my travels to Gaya Island with you guys. As I’ve told you in my previous post HERE, there are different activities each day, so it’s up to you whether you want to take part in them or just enjoy the beach or go to the spa like I did….
As this is a walking resort, we actually walked to the spa from our rooms which took about 10 minutes as it was an uphill terrain
Don’t worry, at least you get to enjoy this breathtaking scenery
Upon arriving at the Spa Village(which is a must try as every YTL resort has a different pre-treatment and massage specialty!
This spa village at Gaya Island was nestled in the forest
We were welcome with scented cold towels and a cold herbs and spices drink!! It’s very spicy so be careful for those who aren’t used to it…
Asyikin explaning to us the concept for this spa which is very Borneo inspired..hence alot of traditional mix of spices and herbs in the treatments
Ben and I loved the drink so much as it really cools down our body
I didn’t quite fancy the pre-treatment for this spa village as it was only 15 minutes.. consisted of a foot scrub with salt and ginger, followed by a back and shoulder massage
The plus point was that it was held in beautiful surroundings
However, ben and I really loved the massage at this spa village… I had the rolling waves one, and Ben the other special one, and it was so comforting, it actually put me to sleep!!!!
So, here is the ratings out of 5:
Pre -treatment: 2.5/5
Surroundings: 3.5/5
Explanation: 4/5
Massage: 5/5
Call us decadent but after the massage, we went to the private beach called Tavajun Bay to have lunch and soak up some rays… Check out how secluded and pristine the beach is!
While having lunch at the Thai restaurant, we actually spotted a family of wild boars… so cute!
The meal at this restaurant was TO DIE FOR! It was soooo good we ate everything. The cook is Thai and she really spends time making the food… It was not only authentic… it was better than any Thai Food I’ve eaten in Thailand!
Ben slurpued up the Tom Yam soup
Which came in a jar
Even the dessert was good!
Now, I have to say that the food at Gaya Island Resorts Feast Village cannot compare to Pangkor Laut’s Uncle Lim’s or Feast Village as the variety for breakfast is way less and the food just had no taste… EXCEPT for this Thai restaurant! If I could eat here every meal, I would be in heaven!!!!!!!!!! The exclamation marks says everything…
Although the food wasn’t good at the Feast Village at Gaya Island Resort, the service by Chef Dollis made up for it as he always came round to check and if it’s not good, he doesn’t mind replacing it…
The scenery at Tavajun Bay taken with my Olympus EPL 7 using the pinhole Art effect
Never wanting to leave
Speeding off in a boat back to the resort but we had fun 🙂
All in all, Gaya Island Resort was definitely relaxing with th presence of Tavajun Bay and it’s Thai food which is God sent but they still need improvements in terms of the food at Feast Village. If you compare it to Pangkor Laut Resort, they may lose out in terms of the size, and the spa but other than that, Gaya Island Resort has it’s own charms as well….
Love,
Mei Sze
P.S. Every picture is taken with an Olympus EPL7
looks great
It was 🙂
