This article is up in this month’s issue of MYC, so do pick up a copy if you see it at your nearest Starbucks but I would like to share it with those who are just about to give up..
“There are times in our lives that we question our abilities to succeed or even pass a paper, but what makes you take that ONE more step to succeed? It’s SO EASY to GIVE UP. But What’s Next after that? There’s no rainbow or paradise waiting for those who give up.
Endless sea of opportunities!
Relating this topic back to my own personal experience as a current graduate student… I basically had my life all mapped out, how long I would take to when I would graduate with my PhD.
However, unexpected things came along the way after completing my masters at a fairly young age that derailed my plans to graduate as expected; such as the fact that my professor had the power to hold me back if he disliked a word, or my research, an uncontrollable factor.
Of course I didn’t regret any part of it because I came back to Malaysia to pursue my research and along the way, started my own business and becoming a TV host.
Host and brainchild of The Influencer (fusing expertise from PersonEdge and skills as a host)
The thing is, there were many times in the journey that I wanted to give up on my PhD, but that niggling thought in my heart would go away when I do the below:
- Believe– in the Big Picture. See it Happen.
- Focus – Write down HOW to succeed. Stop thinking of WHY you can’t.
- What’s the alternative? There is none.
Before you stop short from succeeding or achieving the results you want, always remember that.. you could just be ONE step away, and it is in your grasp! Don’t spend your time on What IFs .. Life’s too Fun for What If I took the extra step.”
I am literally one step away after my recent trip back to Hawaii in finally obtaining my PhD!
Next stop, becoming the next Oprah of Malaysia perhaps?
Don’t stop believing,
