Living life with Stage 4 breast cancer

I promised I would write about Christy who is a stage 4 breast cancer patient on my Facebook recently. One of the main reasons is how I am so in awe with her story and her optimism. Diagnosis Christy here found out she had breast cancer through a routine check in October 2016. Due to financial and emotional stress from her divorce, she felt that had a huge impact on her getting breast cancer. She couldn't accept her diagnosis at first,  but she finally did when she found out that the cancer had spread to her liver. In early 2017, she got her left breast removed along with her lymph nodes. After chemotherapy, she found out her  cancer had spread to her neck,...

I believe I have mentioned in my interviews with publications and newspapers that I felt very ALONE while I was wearing the colostomy bag, and even during recovery. I've searched online countless times for a support group in Malaysia because I wanted to speak to someone MY age who was going through this. However, most...

When your dreams are ruined because of cancer

Pledge and Share For every share, AXA AFFIN will donate RM1 to National Cancer Society Malaysia.   Allen, then 29 had saved up enough money to open a café with his friends, he was stoked that his dreams were about to come true! The only thing puzzling him was the fact that he kept having severe gastric pains. Initially, he went to see a Chinese doctor, and started taking herbs which helped the pain, but it would come back. His girlfriend made him see a specialist, and that’s when his café dreams suddenly seem so far away! He was diagnosed with stage 4 stomach cancer, which showed that it has already spread to his lymph nodes, lungs, and liver. He had to have immediate surgery...

First Youth Ambassador for the National cancer society of Malaysia

Ever since I was 16, my dream was to help youths, their socioemotional wellbeing. This dream was spurred on by the fact that I volunteered at an orphanage, and witnessed what abuse and abandonment did to these kids. And, that is one of the main reasons why I took Psychology as my major, even pursuing it up till the PhD level in Hawaii. I know many people would think I am having fun, but I rarely did because I was mostly doing work in the lab or at home...
